ISLE of WIGHT Dialect
This page is based on a book written by W.H.Long and published in 1886. It is considered the definitive record of the dialect. The book is long since out of print (and out of copyright) and I am including the full version on this page in PDF format, which requires Adobe Reader. The files are scans carried out using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to convert into text rather than photo scans. These need close examination to ensure they are correct (the spell check could not cope!). So far I have completed the Introduction and the dictionary, there are other sections to come. As currently posted these are very much Beta versions.
